Introducing Ceru, a three-month Levantine pop up bringing the fierce flavours of the Middle East to Fiztrovia. Serving everything from za’atar laced breakfast wraps to lunch and dinner dishes designed to share, Ceru takes you on an all day culinary journey from Lebanese street snacks to the tastes of southern Turkey.
Having taken a temporary home until 30th April at 29 Rathbone Place following a successful summer of music festivals, Ceru’s interior is an intimate space seating just 20 on a selection of vibrant yellow high stools. Whether it’s a take-out breakfast pot with a Levantine twist from the rustic wood counter or a candlelit small plates supper with spiced cocktails, the small but perfectly formed restaurant is a stylish and vibrant option no matter the time of day.
Created by Executive chef Tom Kime, previously of The River Café, Le Pont de la Tour and Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant, Ceru’s menu encompasses the passion for Levantine cuisine showcased in his award-winning book “Tasting”.
Highlights include a beautiful kaleidoscope of dips including Pancar (roast beetroot, yoghurt, garlic and pistachio) and Fadi (fried baby courgette purée with tahini, roast garlic, yoghurt & lemon) served with freshly baked pita; Ceru’s signature Slow Roast Lamb Shoulder with Shawarma Spices; Chermoula Roasted Aubergines with herbed yoghurt & spiced roast almonds; Kebab Karaz Spiced Baked Meatballs with sour cherry and cranberry and Turkish Delight Crème Brûlée.
Start the day with health-conscious Greek Yoghurt with honeycomb, cranberries and pistachio nuts and freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juices in cute glass bottles; or build-your-own breakfast wraps with options including Murguez sausage, halloumi and tomato, cinnamon & chilli relish.
Too busy to take a lunch hour? To go options include Lebanese flatbread wraps filled with Chicken Kebab Marinated With Lemon & Saffron with cucumber & mint or Chickpea and Broad Bean Falafel with tahini, garlic & yoghurt; salads such as the Crisp Apple, Pomegranate & Mint with green chilli, lemon & roasted pine nuts; and Herbed Zucchini Fritters with Feta Cheese. All dishes on the take away menu can be picked up or delivered to any office within a two-kilometer radius.
The joys of Levantine flavours don’t need to be limited to the food. Cocktail fans can indulge in exotic blends including Pomegranate Margarita with fresh pomegranate, lime, lemon, agave syrup & mint or Passionista with vanilla-infused vodka, fresh passion fruit & kaffir lime syrup – particularly from 5-7pm when all cocktails are just £5. The short wine list includes Ixsir Grande Reserve from Lebanon.
