Lupe Gajardo at New York Fashion Week: Day 7

With just days away until Fashion Week lands on our home-turf, After Nyne’s Creative Director Craig Hemming anticipates what to expect today and who he is watching on the other side of the Atlantic: New York.

It’s Tuesday, and we’re on the home stretch of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. While we are waiting with an unnerving fervour to see what the likes of Tory Birch, Lela Rose & Jenny Packham are dishing up for AW15 – we’re narrowing our focus toto Lupe Gajardo, today’s closing designer.

In terms of scheduling, today sees a range of gowns galore, so Lupe is sure to mix things up a little!

Dubbed Latin Americas fashion “prodigy child” (no pressure Lupe!), she launched her self-named brand in 2010 and immediately surprised the industry with her fresh and unique talent. Since then, she hasn’t stopped. 9 collections, Berlin Fashion Week, FTV’s top 5 trendsetters of the year, Santiago Fashion Week, collaborations with Diet Coke to design a special edition of the can distributed across Chile, interviews for H&M Life and even Latin American Vogue. She clearly has no intentions of slowing down any time soon!

What to expect:

Lupe has understandably been keeping her latest collection under wraps (no surprises there) but we’re sure that her AW15 will be nothing short of outstanding. One thing we can tell you about her work, and let’s face it – she’s still new on the block, her designs distinguishing features are a sense of authentic craft. A confident silhouette and the epic marriage of Latin American culture with avant-garde custom – offering a super fresh injection of the widely known Latina energy, power and soul.

You can catch Lupe Hajardo at 9PM (EST), 3AM for us Brits (it’ll be worth it!) via Mercedez Benz Live Stream.

Spice up your life!
