It’s Wednesday – and finally, just one more day to go until Fashion Week graces the streets of London. As you remember, yesterday our Creative Director Craig Hemming placed the spotlight on Latina designer Lupe Garjado as our one to watch– if you did, you go Glen Coco!
For those who did, we can appreciate the shift in direction, taking us all by surprise with homeless chic, not the Derilicte Zooldander sort; and it was incredible!
On the agenda for today, however, as far as show consistency, we foresee a big mix of aesthetics. Envision everything from slick tailoring-GOD Hugo Boss to the eclectic vibrancy of Japanese accessories genius that is IIJIN, though we at After Nyne have our eyes widely peeled in anticipation of Anna Sui’s latest offering.
Anna Sui’s collections take you on a creative journey, giving you the perfect mix of kitsch and couture with clothes that are actually wearable – YAY for not having to go out dressed as a bunch of fries!
Last year, the designer epitomised the emphasis of culture in a continually shifting fashion by bringing back the iconic cowgirl look that is finally starting to creep its way into commercial fashion. (yes!)
Whether Anna draws inspiration from the Victorian cowboys, to Warhol’s superstars or Finnish textile prints, her depth of cultural knowledge is always apparent.
“When I’m interested in something, I want to know everything about it,” she says.
Her constant search for new ideas and cultural adaptations keeps her way ahead of the curve, she is the true essence of a trendsetter; whom editors and stylists are always looking to for new inspiration.
We can say with confidence Anna Sui will definitely be one of the highlights of this seasons New York Fashion Week – keep up the good work girl!
You can watch Anna Sui AW15 via Mercedes Benz livestream at 6pm (est) – that’s Midnight for us Brits (it’ll be worth it!)
