Cultivated from a cutting of Chelsea hotspot and favoured celebrity hangout The Botanist on Sloane Square, the latest opening from London operator ETM Group has burst into life as the City’s next destination restaurant, bar and late-night venue.
Located in the dynamic new Broadgate Circle development, next to Liverpool Street Station, the new Botanist on the block is split over two floors – a buzzing ground floor restaurant and bar and the sultry subterranean late-night Soda Room.
With interiors by the renowned Russell Sage Studio (The Grain Store, Social Eating House), beautiful plates of satisfying food and creative cocktails available seven days a week, The Botanist Broadgate Circle is perfectly placed for brisk breakfasts, business lunches, post-work drinks, relaxed suppers, Sunday lunches and socialising until the early hours.
Discerning drinkers can perch in comfort on the leather-luxe high stools surrounding the busy bar, cosy-up on patchwork green, gold and bronze banquettes, hide away in the makeshift library nook’s armchairs, or make the most of the British summer on the al fresco terrace taking full advantage of Broadgate Circle’s sun-trap status.
Whichever spot you make your own, the bar’s extensive range of cocktails running from the simple pleasures of an Aperol Spritz to a signature Broadgate Cobber (Marsala Secco, Solerno blood orange liqueur, Belsazar rose, pink grapefruit and kumquats) or Don Martinez (toasted fennel seed-infused Don Julio Blanco, Punt e Mes, Maraschino Liqueur and orange bitters) will make it a pleasure to stay.
Head Chef Sam Hawkes, formerly of The Cadogan Arms on the King’s Road, has created a collection of inspiring dishes bringing the very best out of the seasonal, British produce that ETM Group passionately champions.
Main events mix-up crowd-pleasers with new takes on classics, seasonal salads and house specials including a changing pie-of-the-day. Signature dishes from the stove feature: Iberico pork shoulder with almonds, pickled nectarines and nasturtium; crab linguine drizzled with chilli oil; and corn-fed chicken breast, black truffle tagliatelle, broad beans and morels.
Weekends at Broadgate will see the City at leisure. The Botanist’s menus match the laid-back mood with a bottomless brunch offering from 10am-5pm on Saturdays and 11am-5pm. Enjoy two courses for £20, three courses for £25 and unlimited prosecco, mimosas, bloody Marys and ETM house wine for an extra £15.
Those looking for late hedonistic nights in intimate surroundings should descend the grand staircase past the wall of dark wood, apothecary-style drawers into the sleek and sophisticated surroundings of Soda Room – Broadgate Circle’s only late-night venue.
Soda Room will host a mix of live music nights and DJ sets. Wednesday evenings set the party vibe for the downhill run to the end of the week with Latin-infused music from 7pm.
Thursdays will feature international DJ and producer Jez Pereira who has spun the wheels at some of the most prestigious events around the globe, having lined up alongside the likes of Idris Elba, Will.I.Am, Mark Ronson and Pete Tong.
Friday nights will be all about commercial house music to welcome in the weekend, while Saturday starts with live swing from 6pm-9pm in the bar followed by commercial house DJs from 10pm-2am.
