Young’s Hotels has re-opened the doors to The Brewers Inn after a complete interior overhaul – transforming an original cellar into a new bar, adding a rotisserie and reviving the food offering at the popular hotel, pub and dining room in southwest London.

For nibbles with drinks, tailor a cheese and charcuterie platter, served on handmade wooden boards, to your exact specification from a menu filled with the best of British cured meats and cheeses. Charcuterie comes supplied from Cannon and Cannon (Moons Green saucisson; Trealy Farm wine and chocolate blood salami; Lane Farm chorizo) whilst Harvey & Brockless cheeses hail from across the UK (Lancashire smooth blue; Thomas Hoe red leicester; Guernsey Goddess; Somerset Camembert). A bottle of fine wines or a glass or two of port will pair with each platter perfectly.

The Brewers Inn is also now offering re-fillable 2 pint vintage ‘Growler’ bottles of craft beers (£12 – £15) to take-away and enjoy at home.

The Hotel also offers sixteen bedrooms, offering a comfortable and stylish stay for guests with warm interiors, soft cotton linens and spacious en-suite bathrooms.

The Six Bells, Suffolk 

The Six Bells, a stunning boutique pub and dining room set in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, a short drive from Bury St Edmunds, is set to redefine the “country local”.

Venturing outside of the capital for the first time, hugely successful London operator ETM Group (The Gun, The Jugged Hare, The Botanist) has given the historic Grade II-listed former brewery in Preston St Mary, near Lavenham, a magnificent makeover and new lease of life that begs to be experienced.

One of ETM Group’s most talented chefs, John Tremayne, has upped sticks from City favourite The White Swan, Fetter Lane, to lead The Six Bells’ kitchen. A chef who cut his teeth at London’s Salt Yard and Michelin-starred restaurant Arbutus, John procures the finest produce from his newfound local larder including meat from Lavenham Butchers, game from shoots right on the doorstep, and the freshest catch direct from day-boats at Leigh-On-Sea.

Starters include new season Norfolk asparagus with crisp pheasant’s egg and country-style venison terrine with pear chutney. Mains centre on sustainable fish and meats supported by a bounty of local vegetables in signature dishes of grilled Leigh-On-Sea slip soles with seaweed butter and new potatoes; pork collar with garden vegetables and herb dumplings and a sublime 35-day aged, rare breed rump steak served with Béarnaise and hand-cut chips.

Taking Streatham by the horns, local favourite The Bull has been transformed following a fantastic refurbishment. Originally built in 1768 and formerly known as The Pied Bull, this south London hotspot perfectly positioned near the beautiful Streatham Common, has charged back into the spotlight with a new menu, interiors and refreshed garden with the addition of a Burger Shack.

With a title like The Bull, you know that fine butchery and sensational steak are going to be championed on the menu. A chalk blackboard is updated daily, announcing steak specials and choice cuts sold by the gram such as Black Angus sirloin, fillet and Chateaubriand, exceptionally cooked to specification.  Standout sides to enjoy include beef short rib; mac ‘n’ cheese; beef dripping chips; and sautéed kale with wild garlic.

Alternatively, tuck into the small plates menu with Brixham crab cakes; monkfish cheek fritters and Sipsmith cured Scottish wild salmon on offer. A seasonal daily menu also features with dishes such as pan-roasted sea bass with samphire and clams alongside a selection of stunning salads and light bites.

Behind the bar, premium bottled beers from around the globe fill the fridges, whilst Young’s’ established stable of cask ales take pride of place at the pumps, including Young’s Bitter, Young’s Special and Young’s London Gold. Locally brewed craft beers including Meantime and Camden Town Brewery are also stocked alongside an international wine list and cocktails from classics to exclusive seasonal serves.

Beefing up the Bull’s back garden is the Burger Shack; an al fresco eatery serving brilliant burgers, craft beers and sodas. The contemporary corrugated iron shack serves four different burgers from the Classic (topped with cheese, Young’s ale onions and pickles), to the Veggie), all served in locally-baked, artisan, Brioche-style soft buns. Grab a seat in the garden’s bespoke ‘Shepherd’s Hut’ or make an occasion of it and hire one of the open plan sheds for 8 to 12 people, each one named after an exceptional British breed including Galloway, Dexter, Devon for you and your herd.
