Defy The Weather With Village East’s Hoppy Hour

Last Friday After Nyne headed down to Bermondsey to try out Village East’s ‘Hoppy Hour’. If the name didn’t give it away this is a menu of beer based cocktails using produce from local Bermondsey breweries.

After attending the Great British Beer Festival the night before I was a little bit intimidated by the thought of consuming any more beer based products but after a second glance at the menu intrigue got the better of me. The shining crown of the list for me was a cocktail called ‘would I lychee to you’ which consisted of Kernal Pale Ale, Kamm & Sons ginseng liqueur, lychee liqueur, lemon, rosemary syrup and ginger.

This was light and refreshing, and the fruity tones from the ale worked perfectly, just what you need at 5.30pm on a Friday!

With larger and port based cocktails available too this menu caters for a range of tastes in beer. It is worth noting that although I don’t believe you need to be a beer aficionado to enjoy these cocktails the ‘Hoppy Hour’ does also include a selection of non-beer based drinks.

With summer under way Village East are also offering a call and collect menu enabling you to embrace the last of summer’s alfresco dining opportunities. The selection can be seen here
