Candy is Burning….and she’s doing it in style if the anthems on her debut EP Androgene are anything to go by.
Inspired by the early New York club scene, and an interest in the other-worldly glamour of Sci-Fi B-movies like Barbarella, Androgene marks the musical debut of a performer who has gone from strength to strength in the past year.
Candy – the drag alter-ego of Irish performer Evin Dennehy – has spent the year performing regular slots at Electric Picnic, Longitude Music Festival, with Sink the Pink, opening for Sophie Ellis Bextor, and is thrilled at the response she has received from audiences
‘In 2015 drag has evolved outside of lipsyncing a pop number in your local gay bar. I love what I do, and it’s great that people can see my vision and want to share in that. I’m enjoying walking down my own yellow brick road’
Now After Nyne are thrilled to be presenting the premiere of the short film promo for Candy’s new single Twist The Knife.
Filmed on location in Cork, and directed by Warhol and Ed Fitzgerald, Twist the Knife draws you in with it’s heightened sense of anticipation and mystery before the dark beat takes over.
The film features cameo appearances from Irish burlesque star Foxy P Cox and singer Rebecca Houlihan.
